Counsel Assistant

JOB Under the direction of the General Counsel, serves in this position consistent with the attorney-client relationship; provides legal advice to the Board of Directors, its members and District staff on all legal and business matters including a wide variety of public agency law, civil law, labor law, and provides legal support to the Water and Energy departments; assists with internal operations of general counsel’s office; represents the District in legal proceedings and ensures that District activities support strategic objectives and are in compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Performs related duties as assigned.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Doctor of Jurisprudence from a recognized educational institution and five years of progressively responsible experience in the practice of civil law and public agency representation which may include civil litigation defense and public agency litigation.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Negative drug test is required as a condition of employment.
