Pay Rate: $43.
59 per hour
Bonus: $5,000 sign-on and retention

Work Schedule: 3x12s Day or Night Shifts with rotating weekends

Position responsibilities include:
Plans and performs specialized/advanced nursing assignments of considerable difficulty.
Uses expertise in assessing patient conditions and develops nursing plans that serve as a role model for others.
Provides specialized nursing care to patients having illnesses and injuries that require performance of established nursing procedures.
Renders expertise in caring for patients who are seriously ill, are not responding to normal treatment, have undergone unique surgical operations, or who are receiving infrequently used medication.
Attend sick call with the physicians to see detainees and prepare examining room/equipment.
Call the physician for medication and treatment orders and other emergencies.
Operate pill call by administering medication while accurately and completely documenting treatment as required by applicable policies and procedures.
Examine and assess detainees with illnesses or injuries and confer with physician to refer detainees to the emergency room as required by their condition.
Document illnesses and injuries in medical record or other forms as appropriate.
Maintain absolute security/confidentiality of all medical records and observe applicable HIPAA rules.
Comply with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances.
Inspect medical unit for items that could be used as contraband by detainees.
Securely store or safely dispose of related supplies, equipment, control medication, syringes, or other medical supplies.
Provide health counseling and health education on an individual/group basis as required.
Initiate and complete investigations/inquiries with accuracy as directed, gather information/evidence, conduct interviews, and obtain statements.
Exercise independent judgment by determining when probable cause exists to recommend disciplinary action.
Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies, and disasters to include administering basic emergency medical aid, physically removing people away from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from confined areas.
Education and experience requirements:
Degree in nursing.
Current, valid nursing license for the state of California.
Must possess current CPR certification.
Must work within California state board of nursing scope of practice.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Valid driver’s license in the state of California with an acceptable driving record is required, unless waived by management.
