Under direct supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor), the Accountant I (Specialist) performs semiprofessional accounting work in the maintenance of inmate financial records and associated accounts; shall maintain a knowledge of practices, policies and procedures of the Accounting Office.
Duties include an ability to review information and process data according to applicable rules and procedures of the Trust/Support functions of the Accounting Office.
The ability to accurately record, receipt, track, and log paperwork, forms and other information is essential; process inmate trust withdrawals, inmate pay, post inmate checks and money orders to inmate trust accounts, enter Restitution cases in Trust Restitution Accounting Canteen System (TRACS), review and verify inmate trust accounts.
Encumber funds for family visiting, and process payments to vendors.
Process requests for stop payments.
Additional duties and functions may be assigned as needed.
The Accountant I (Specialist) shall have knowledge of all Support and Trust functions of the Accounting Office.
