JOB TITLE: Teacher (Early Childhood) JOB CODE: 116 REPORTS TO: Director of Child Care LAST REVISION DATE: 3/25/15 BRIEF SUMMARY: Must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children, especially in the field of early childhood education or development and able to meet the requirements of the licensing agency.
Must be able to relate well to children and adults.
: Plans, supervises and implements the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the school.
Gears the program to the needs of the individual child with concern for interests, disabilities, special talents and individual style and pace of learning.
Responsible for yearly curriculum and monthly lesson plans.
Responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, décor and learning environment of the classroom.
Considers the individual child in relationship to his/her cultural and socioeconomic background.
Treats each child with dignity and respect.
Helps each child to become aware of his role as an integral member of a group.
Assists the Director in explaining the program to visitors.
Implements methods for effectively utilizing the services of classroom assistants.
Plans and implements methods of establishing a positive liaison with parents of the children.
Supervises and escorts children (restroom, field trips, walks, etc).
: Participates in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth.
Performs other related duties as needed to facilitate workflow and to promote healthcare.
Assumes an equal share of the joint housekeeping responsibilities of the staff.
Attends all staff meetings.
Supervises children at Little People’s Center : Must have twelve postsecondary semester units or equivalent quarter units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development completed at an accredited or approved college or university.
Must have at least six months of work experience at a licensed day care center or comparable group child care program.
Must have documentation of attendance at a health and nutrition class from an accredited college/university.
Must maintain current basic life support certification with first aide.
: Children in the child care center range in age from two to twelve years.
: Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds; bend, stoop, run, climb, push, pull and jump.
Must be able to speak, hear and see to communicate with children and adults.
Must be able to operate office equipment such as personal computer, typewriter, copier, calculator and telephone.
