Job Title: Personal Attendant
Department: Residential Services
Reports To: Group Home Lead Staff
FLSA Status: Non Exempt.
Factor: 5 Pay Rate: $16.
00 Summary: Personal attendants, both full and part-time, work under the direct supervision of a Lead Staff.
Under immediate supervision, perform routine duties according to detailed instructions that include procedures to follow.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Provides training and rehabilitation programs to residents as planned by the interdisciplinary team.
Training in self-help, independent living and other skills which may include such areas a seating, drinking, toileting, personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, health care, communication, social skills, leisure time and behavior management.
May also provide and encourage opportunities for choice of daily implementations of individual programs including direct intervention.
2.
Ability to enter data pertaining to daily programs and regular documentation in each resident's record.
Documentation is also required concerning basic nursing and medical care administered to the residents, documenting unusual occurrences, behaviors, activities, or problems that may arise.
3.
Provides communication to the resident's interdisciplinary team, co-workers, family and friends about the ongoing status of each resident and his/her care.
Communication also requires working cohesively with staff on other shifts, workshop instructors and teachers to insure that each resident's program is consistent and clear.
In addition, Personnel Attendants will be involved with ongoing communication with physicians and nurses as well as other professionals for off-site appointments, including making appointments and transporting whenever necessary.
Employees will be held accountable to communicate with their supervisor and/or RN of the outcome of all offsite appointments.

Responsibly administers prescribed medications to residents as well as treatments for health and hygiene in coordination with nursing staff supervision.
Personnel Attendants will also be held accountable for the proper documentation and control drug counts as well as assuring that there is adequate supply of routine medications within the facility.
5.
Personal Attendants have the responsibility for the overall cleanliness of the living unit, such as normal household chores , laundry, food preparation and clean up, bed making and providing transportation to a variety of activities.
Assisting in taking residents shopping for clothing, food, and personal items is also a regular duty.
6.
Lifting and/or transferring of clients may be required on an intermittent basis.
7.
Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-service meetings as required by California State Law, Title 22, ARM and ARC policy.
Will become familiar with the rules and regulations of the ARC and the group homes.
Follows personnel policies closely.
Fosters cooperative staff relationships and effective teamwork.
8.
Provides a safe environment for the residents and coworkers by being knowledgeable of the principles of infection control and universal precautions and adhering to the protocol at all times .

Personnel Attendants will keep accurate documentation with regards to the resident's personal money and its use.
This will include retaining receipts for permanent records.
10.
Personnel Attendants will be responsible for the therapeutic diets and menus as prescribed.
11.
Assume responsibility to adhere to the social programs scheduled for the consumer/resident (i.
e.
, education programs, entertainment programs, special events, spiritual services, games, group programs, etc.
).

Shall maintain a harmonious, pleasant and positive working environment as possible by following established standards for desirable conduct, including but not limited to discrimination, sexual harassment and chemical/substance abuse.

Promote a better, more cooperative working atmosphere by maintaining a safe, hazard free work environment, adhering to CAL-OSHA and ADA requirements.
3.
All ARC-IV employees are required to keep all information pertaining to consumers, agency internal affairs and employee personnel issues in the strictest of confidence.
4.
Keep supervisor informed of in-house activities, progress and problems with concise, complete written reports.
5.
Individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, as assigned by the Lead Staff, RN or Director of Client Care Advocacy.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 1 O's and 1 00's.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions.
Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must posses a valid California Drivers License Must have a clean DMV record Must have CNA or HHA or home care provider Certificate (preferred).
Must have current auto liability and bodily damage insurance.
