The Department of Fish and Wildlife's Salton Sea Program is seeking a motivated individual to work as an Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) at our Inland Deserts Region Field offices located in Riverside and Imperial Counties.
The position will serve as part of the Integrated Science Team, a multi-disciplinary team of scientific and support staff engaged in implementation of the Salton Sea Management Program (SSMP).
The SSMP is a multi-agency program formed alongside the Department of Water Resources to meet the State Water Resources Control Board Order 2017-0134, which is aimed at minimizing public health and environmental concerns related to the shrinking Salton Sea.
Under the general direction of the Department's Salton Sea Program Senior Environmental Scientist Supervisor, the incumbent will be performing environmental compliance monitoring and reporting for created aquatic habitat and dust suppression (vegetation enhancement) projects under construction and in operation for the SSMP.
Additionally, the incumbent will review new project design and contribute to adaptive management decisions on projects throughout the rapidly changing Salton Sea ecosystem.
