Job Title: Aircraft Servicer
Department: Base Operations Support
Job Summary:
The Aircraft Servicer services aircraft, performing any combination of the following tasks, directs incoming and outgoing aircraft near terminal or flight line parking area to assist pilot's maneuvering of the aircraft on the ground, using hand or light signals or drives light truck with guiding sign, and secures aircraft in parking position with aircraft wheel chocks, installs landing gear and safing pins

Duties/Responsibilities:
Operates service vehicles to replenish water, and waste system chemicals (at select locations)
Assists with refueling, defueling, and towing aircraft (tow vehicle operator)
Operates ground support equipment such as electrical power carts, engine starting carts, air conditioning carts, nitrogen carts, and oil and hydraulic carts for serving aircraft
Examines tires for specified air pressure and condition
Positions boarding platforms to unload or load aircraft passengers (staircase truck)
De-ice aircraft wings and assemblies (select locations)
Extract engine oil samples when required and provide to NDI for analysis
Coordinates via land mobile radio with air traffic control for follow me and towing of aircraft to designated parking spots
Retrieve Drag chutes and return to owning maintenance unit
Coordinates with base supply in ordering parts for aircraft
Assists with aircraft with fuel, oil, oxygen, hydraulics, air and nitrogen
Assists with minor maintenance under the direct supervision of other qualified personnel
Assists with the removal and installation of panels, covers, plugs, tie-downs, pins, and other equipment
Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Aviation Ground Equipment (AGE)
Inspects, tests, and operates AGE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation
Diagnoses mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications
Removes, dis-assembles, repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and re-installs AGE accessories and component
Operates AGE special purpose vehicles and other support equipment as required
Services tires and accumulators, etc as directed
Records maintenance actions in aircraft records; completes associated documentation as necessary
Participates in aircraft wipe-downs
Drives tugs for purpose of towing equipment
Operates and utilizes fire suppression equipment; and common aircraft hand tools
Participates in on-the-job-training under direction of qualified personnel and documented in appropriate records
Stores, handles, uses, and disposes of hazardous material and waste according to environmental standards
Observes precautions prescribed by Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, housekeeping, tool control, and safety programs
Required Skills/Abilities:
Proficient written and oral communication skills according to skill requirements
Possess strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written instructional documents
Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
Ability to apply concepts of introductory algebra and geometry
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least two years of related experience required
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
Occasional periods of prolonged exposure to loud noises
Ability to lift up to 70 pounds at times
Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
Special Qualifications/Requirements:
Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigation
Valid state driver's license
Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airframe / Power plant license or DD 214 or equivalent approved certifications
